MindTouch, the open source collaboration platform company, recently polled over 50 executives in the open source industry to see who they thought were the most influential of their peers. The survey, carried out as part of Mindtouch's research into open source best practices, picked Larry Augustin, CEO of SugarCRM and founder of SourceForge as the executive's top choice.

Jim Whitehurst, President and CEO of Red Hat, Matt Asay General Manager of the Americas division and Vice President of business development at Alfresco, MySQL's Marten Mickos, and Drupal creator Dries Buytaert, who commented recently on the White House choice of Drupal for its new CMS, also made the top five.

Interviewed by The H today at the CRM Accelerator tour in London, Augustin said "I'll have to talk to Aaron and Mark [of MindTouch] and thank them." and "I really like what MindTouch are doing" referring to the companies collaboration tools.
