SugarCRM starts delivering open source test tools

SugarCRM has begun to deliver a set of open source test tools that the company has used internally for testing it's customer relationship management software. The company announced it would be releasing the tools at OSCON in July, and now the first of the tools has appeared in the GitHub repositories. So far, MeterMaid, SugarMMM (MeterMaid Maker) and TidBit have been released, with SODA and SodaMachine to follow.

MeterMaid is a light weight XML language designed to make writing tests with Apache JMeter easier. SugarMMM is a specialised generator of MeterMaid tests designed to create load testing scripts and TidBit is a data generator for SugarCRM for creating large amounts of data as part of scalability and performance testing. MeterMaid and SugarMMM are available under an Apache licence, while TidBit is available under the AGPL3 licence.

Yet to be released, SODA is an XML based testing framework for performing functional testing on web applications and SodaMachine is a GUI for creating and debugging SODA tests. SODA is based on the open source Ruby library Watir and both tools will be released under a BSD licence.The tools are also available through SugarCRM's Open Source Tools page.
