The open source customer relationship manager SugarCRM is now generally available as version 5.5. The new version sees a new Mobile Studio Editor which allows users to customise and optimise SugarCRM on mobile devices. It's possible to select which modules are available for wireless mobile devices and tailor the layout of forms for the smaller device's form factors. Another addition is the support of dynamic teams which allow the systems users to assign accounts to sponsors, teams or advocates, rather than just a sales representative or team.

Another enhancement is an improved Web Services framework; performance of the existing web services has been improved and a REST API has been added to support integration with other applications. A themes framework now allows easier management of the theming interface by allowing administrators to more easily create and control customised themes. Finally, a new password management system has been incorporated which includes variable password strength requirements, generated passwords, expiry and automatic lock-out on failed logins.

SugarCRM is available as a trial of the commercial version of SugarCRM, or as the open source GPLv3 licensed community edition. The source for the community edition is available to download from sugarforge.org and installable binary versions from SugarCRM's site.
