Debian logo The results of the election for Debian Project Leader have been announced and Steve McIntyre has retained his leadership of the free software GNU/Linux distribution.

The election saw 366 valid votes from the 1013 Debian developers eligible to vote. The voting page explains how the votes were tallied and the winner calculated using the Condorcet method. McIntyre, who was recently interviewed by heise Open, thanked the developers who voted in a blog posting entitled "Whoops, I did it again". He says he will make a more formal posting soon but has "the latest set of point release CDs/DVDs and tidying up my place after a big party last night" to work on first.
