TomcatExpert Logo Open source Java framework specialist, SpringSource, has launched a new community portal for the Apache Tomcat open source implementation of the Java Servlet and JavaServer Pages technologies at TomcatExpert.com. According to the company, the goal of the new site is to "improve the adoption, performance and value of Apache Tomcat for enterprise users."

The new community site features a blog that will include the latest news and trends, a knowledge base with in-depth articles and an "Ask the Experts" page. Using the Ask the Experts site, visitors can ask committers and community leaders questions on how they can improve, troubleshoot or manage their Apache Tomcat deployments.

SpringSource, a subsidiary of VMware, says that its employees are responsible for 95% of the Apache Tomcat bug fixes over the past two years and that it resolves a number of Tomcat problem incidents before they reach the community forums. VMware acquired SpringSource in August of 2009 for a total of $420 million.
