Spring for Android logo Version 1.0 of Spring for Android is a small extension to the Spring Framework for Android developers; this allows Spring client libraries to be used in Android environments. To this end, the Android framework features a REST client that native Android applications can use to access RESTful Web Services. Developers can also connect to Spring Social, thereby making use of APIs from service providers such as Twitter, Facebook and GitHub.

Further details can be found in the announcement blog post, in the change log and in the 1.0.0 reference manual. Spring for Android 1.0 is available to download from the SpringSource Community page; alternatively, users can add the Maven artifacts to their project. Sample applications are provided on the SpringSource GitHub page. Spring for Android is distributed under the terms of the Apache Licence 2.0.
