The Codehaus project Sonar, for code quality management has been updated to version 1.5.1. Sonar is licensed under LGPL3 and integrates test tools such as Checkstyle, PMD, FindBugs, Cobertura, Clover and JavaNCSS. Sonar also supports the Apache Maven build management system and allows developers to incorporate the ecosystem of Java code testing tools into a continuous integration environment.

Sonar has over 600 coding rules provided, from validating simple naming conventions to detecting complex anti-patterns. Sonar 1.5 was released on December 16th 2008 and introduced improvements in presentation of coverage details, better visualisations of compliance, "tag coulds" of risky classes and the ability to compare different projects historical quality metrics. A demonstration version of Sonar is available which shows metrics on a number of open source projects. The 1.5.1 update fixes a number of bugs.
