Shawn Hardin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Flock, has announced the release of version 2.5 of the Flock social web browser based on Firefox 3. Flock automatically manages updates and media from several popular social services, including MySpace, Facebook, Bebo, Digg, YouTube and Twitter. According to Hardin, Flock is "designed to be the essential browser for the most active 25 per cent of users".

The release includes several new features and bug fixes. Version 2.5 of Flock is based on the latest 3.0.10 patch for Firefox and now integrates Facebook Chat as an Instant Messaging service. Support for the popular microblogging service Twitter has also been added. Twitter and the popular Bebo social networking site have been integrated into Flock's People Sidebar and a Twitter Search widget has been added to MyWorld. A new feature for Facebook users is FlockCast, which lets users broadcast their current actions from around the web, directly onto their Facebook page.

More details about the release can be found in the release notes. Flock 2.5 is available to download (direct download) for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. A tour and Flock 2.5 User Guide are also available.
