Zoom Skrooge 1.0.0 in action
The Skrooge development team has released version 1.0.0 of its open source personal finance manager. The new version includes a number of new features, several bug fixes, general performance improvements and the adoption of a more conventional version X.Y.Z (major code.minor code.bugfix) numbering scheme.

The ability to group operations together has been added; grouping also works on all columns shown in the main view, including categories, payees and accounts. Monthly report building now uses the Grantlee template engine, which will allow a variety of new reports to be created; the feature can be enabled via the "Get Hot New Stuff" menu option.

Recurring account operations can be scheduled to take place on a weekly basis, and external programs such as KRunner can be used to create operations and import them into Skrooge. Several changes to the user interface have also been made: redundant toolbar icons have been removed, the operation editor includes a new "fast edit" button, the advice widget has more warnings, and menu docking and hiding has been implemented. Trackers, which allow users to follow up on financial operations, can now be merged by dragging and dropping.

Skrooge is built on KDE Platform 4 and is licensed under the GPLv3. It is included in the KDE Extragear office pack, and is also available to download for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.
