The Skrooge development team have released version 0.8.0 of their cross-platform personal finance manager built on the KDE Platform 4. According to the developers, the latest release includes a variety of bug fixes over the previous version and a number of new features across the application.

Skrooge 0.8.0 features the ability to store passwords in the KDE wallet, includes protection against SQL injection attacks and the ability to addition of a first draft of a budget module. The developers note that the new budget module is not yet considered to be in a stable state and may undergo some "heavy modifications" in upcoming versions. Other changes include updates for Units, Operations Reports and Dashboard, as well as export to KMyMoney improvements. The ability to merge accounts via drag & drop, show / hide properties as a column in tables and new icons for South African banks have also been added.

More details about the release, including a full list of features, can be found in a post on the Skrooge Blog. Version 0.8.0 of Skrooge is available to download from the project's site and documentation is provided. Part of KDE Extragear, Skrooge source code is hosted on KDE's subversion and is licensed under version 3 of the GNU General Public Licence (GPLv3).
