Sencha Touch 2.1: new charts and enhanced BlackBerry 10 support
Version 2.1 of the Sencha Touch JavaScript library for mobile devices is now available. Written entirely in HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, the framework is designed to help developers create HTML5 apps for a variety of mobile platforms including iOS, Android and BlackBerry.
The latest version of the mobile application framework includes new and updated charts, and brings performance improvements to layout rendering. A new advanced list component with infinite scrolling has been added; performance of the previous implementation degraded when using lists with a large number of items. To provide enhanced BlackBerry 10 support, the developers have also released a beta version of the BlackBerry 10 theme.

The Sencha Cmd build tool (formerly known as SDK Tools) has been updated to version 3.0 and has enhanced native support. With the native packager, developers can now run their apps on their own devices as well as in the bundled simulator. Read-only access has also been added to the device Contact API for iOS and Android. Additionally, the tool can now be installed without administrator privileges.
For use in open source projects, Sencha Touch 2.1 is available to download under the GPLv3 licence; free-of-charge and paid commercial licences, depending on use, are also available. The Sencha Cmd build tool, a 30-day trial version of Sencha Architect for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X, and the BlackBerry 10 theme can be downloaded from the company's site.
