Selenium Logo The Selenium development team has released version 2.1 of its web testing framework. Selenium consists of an IDE for recording interactions with web applications, a remote control server which runs the tests in multiple browsers and a grid system for distributing tests across multiple servers.

According to the developers, this first point update to Selenium 2.0 is "largely focused on improving Grid", and includes several minor improvements, such as better tracking of "orphaned" browser instances. Other changes include fixes for Internet Explorer and Firefox WebDrivers, as well as making the Selenium RC emulation in the Java bindings more robust. In the release announcement, the developers also ask for feedback from users on whether they prefer "small, swift releases or larger ones".

More details can be found in a post on the Official Selenium Blog. Selenium 2.1 is available to download from the project's site and documentation is provided. All of the Selenium projects are licensed under the Apache 2.0 Licence.
