Scout approved as an Eclipse project
The Scout development framework proposed by vendor BSI Business Systems Integration AG has now been approved as an official Eclipse project. The company created the software as a Java-based development platform about ten years ago. Eclipse Scout allows developers to create SOA and Enterprise Java applications, and the framework was originally used as a central platform for BSI applications such as the company's CRM system.
The Scout framework consists of an application model, a reference implementation, development functions and a software development kit (SDK). The open source Eclipse organisation's official approval now allows other companies to use the framework for their commercial projects and to contribute to the ongoing development of Eclipse Scout. The developers plan to join the annual release train, a coordinated release of various Eclipse projects.
