The OpenSolaris distribution Schillix has released a version of its operating system which is based on the OpenSolaris fork Illumos. The new version, 0.7.1i, has no differences between it and the recently released version 0.7.0 which used the open source OpenSolaris Nevada build 147.

The Illumos project was created in early August after the evidence pointed towards Oracle not actively pursuing the OpenSolaris project which it took control of when it purchased Sun Microsystems. Among the companies behind Illumos is Nexenta, maker of OpenSolaris based storage solutions; Joyent, a provider of cloud hosting services; and UK based hosting company EveryCity. Nexenta have already announced that it is switching its OpenSolaris based Nexenta Core Platform distribution to Illumos.
