SambaXP logo The Samba eXPerience organisers have announced that the eleventh international Samba conference will take place from 8 to 11 May 2012 in Göttingen, Germany at the Hotel Freizeit. The event is open to both users and developers of the open source Windows interoperability suite for Linux and Unix.

The conference will include tutorials on 8 May, with the main conference taking place on 9 and 10 May. For the first time, there will also be a BarCamp on Friday 11 May at which attendees can speak to members of the Samba Team about conference topics and Samba in general.

The SambaXP organisers have issued a call for papers and are now accepting submissions for papers, presentations and talks. Suggested topics include file and object storage technology developments, clustering for High-Availability and High-Performance, and Authentication and Identity Management subjects such as Active Directory integration, integration of an external LDAP server, and Samba DS use with Microsoft ADS.

Each talk should last 45 minutes including any discussion time; the organisers note that the preference is for English language submissions but that it is not a requirement. The deadline for submissions is 20 February. Notifications of whether a proposal has been accepted will be sent on 1 March 2012.

Registration is now open and costs €399 for standard conference access; early bird pricing of €249 is available until 28 February. Tutorials and the BarCamp are charged for separately. Further information about the event can be found on the SambaXP web site; a detailed program will be published in early March. The Samba eXPerience is organised by German information security and data protection specialist SerNet.
