SambaXP logo The twelfth annual Samba eXPerience (SambaXP) conference will take place in Göttingen, Germany from 14 to 17 May under the auspices of the services company SerNet. The program of the international developer and user conference will feature Samba 4 as its main theme and on the second conference day, the developers will also celebrate the release at the official Samba 4 release party. The latest version of the open source file sharing and directory server was released in December.

SambaXP's program committee, again led by Dell's John Terpstra, has opened the Call for Papers for the event. Emphasis will be placed on the use of Linux and Samba 4 as an alternative Active Directory server. To complement this part of the schedule, a tutorial is planned which is meant to give attendees practical experience in this field. Another area that is being focused on is the use of Samba and CTDB, its clustering implementation. A list of other topics that the committee is considering for submitted talks is available on the SambaXP web site. As in previous years, the event will also include a day of barcamp-style discussions that will include the Samba team and other developers.

The Call for Papers will remain open until 28 February, which is also the last opportunity for early bird registrations. Attendees who register within this time will be able to attend the conference for a fee of €249 (approximately £200) instead of the standard €399 (£330).
