VMware Logo At VMworld 2010 currently taking place in San Francisco, VMware and Novell have announced the availability of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) for VMware, building on the companies' expanded partnership announced earlier in June of this year. As of yesterday, customers that purchase a VMware vSphere license and subscription will also receive a patches and updates subscription for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for VMware for free. VMware customers can also purchase optional technical support services for SLES directly from the company without needing to contact Novell.

Novell Logo Discussing the announcement, Novell Global Alliances senior vice president and general manager Joe Wagner said “This unique partnership gives VMware and Novell customers a simplified and lower-cost way to virtualize and manage their IT environments, from the data center to fully virtualized datacenters,” adding that, “This agreement is also a strong validation of Novell's strategy to lead in the intelligent workload management market.”
