SUSE Appliance Toolkit 1.1 generates EC2 images
Novell has released version 1.1 of the SUSE Appliance Toolkit. The software collection, part of the SUSE Appliance Program, contains all the tools required for generating and managing local versions of software appliances. It is part of a commercial offering from Novell aimed at ISVs, who can create Linux based appliances to deliver their applications, and IT departments that want to simplify the process of provisioning and deployment of Linux.
The new version of the Applicance Toolkit is now able to generate Amazon EC2 images, allowing users to create images that can reside on Amazon's on-demand computing cloud. It also adds supports for KVM and OVF virtualisation, supports network booting with PXE and allows users to import existing KIWI and AutoYast scripts.
