Richard Stallman halts speech because of health issues
According to a short statement by FSF Executive Director John Sullivan, FSF President Richard Stallman was driven to a hospital in Barcelona yesterday but has since been discharged. "He did not have a heart attack, as has been reported in some places", Sullivan said.
Stallman was giving a speech at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona when he started feeling unwell and paramedics were called. Spanish reports say Stallman was likely suffering from high blood pressure and that the late arrival of emergency services gave him cause to joke that Spanish Prime Minister Rajoy was trying to kill the population with funding cuts. Apparently, his joke was received with laughter by the audience.
Stallman's speech had to be cancelled, and he was driven to a hospital. He has now been discharged but further information on the state of his health has not yet been released.
