Since this weekend, interested developers have been able to sign up for the Akademy 2008 KDE developer conference. The event will be held from 9th to 15th August 2008 at the De Nayer Institut in Sint-Katelijne-Waver, in Belgium. The Akademy traditionally begins with a two-day conference followed by a coding marathon, "Birds of a Feather" sessions, tutorials and workshops. On 12th August, the EmSys research group will organise an "Embedded and Mobile Day", addressing topics such as embedded Linux, embedded development and GUIs for mobile devices.

Participation at the conference is free, but those planning to attend must be registered. Participants registering before 15th June can book cheap accommodation when registering. Users with KDE Techbase accounts can enter their names in the list of attendees and use it to, for example, help organise lifts.
