Red Hat logo Linux distributor and middleware maker Red Hat has extended its virtual training services to Europe. Red Hat Virtual Training, which was previously only available in North America, currently offers 21 different courses to help participants hone their skills and receive certificates in a range of Linux and JBoss-related areas.

The virtual training courses are aimed at users who wish to avoid the cost of having to travel to an on-site Red Hat classroom. Modules are led by a trainer and are divided into 5½-hour blocks which are typically spread out over a one week period, allowing participants to fit them in around their normal working hours. Participants in the courses are given access to "virtual lab machines" running various products.

One of the forthcoming training courses is Red Hat System Administration III Virtual. Intended for experienced Linux administrators, the course costs £1,600 (€2,240) and deals with topics including disk management with iSCSI, user security issues, and system and network activity monitoring.
