Red Hat has announced that they have become a key contributor to the open source Web Services framework, Apache CXF. Red Hat will be providing full support for Apache CXF as a core component for the JBoss Enterprise Platform. Their aim is to contribute to the continued development of the framework, while increasing the interoperability and enterprise readiness of CXF.

Apache CXF is a standards based framework for developing Service Oriented Architectures (SOAs) and works with several standard protocols, including SOAP, WSDL 1.1 and 2.0, WS-Addressing, WS-Policy, WS-ReliableMessaging and WS-Security. The software is a combination of two projects, the open source Java Enterprise Service Bus Celtix and the SOAP Framework XFire.
