As part of the Red Hat Summit and JBoss World 2010 currently taking place in Boston, US software vendor Red Hat has announced the Red Hat Cloud Foundations, Edition One. The new product is aimed at helping business customers plan, develop and maintain infrastructure-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service products in private and public clouds. To help achieve this, Red Hat plans to expand its development services in order to be able to supply customers with the requisite tools and expertise.

As well as presenting its new cloud service, Red Hat announced an expansion of its cloud partner programme. In addition to Amazon (EC2) – IBM, NTT Communications and Savvis are all now "certified cloud providers". This gives Red Hat customers a wider range of options when it comes to finding the right cloud services and therefore makes clouds more attractive products in general.
