The new version 5.4 of Red Hat Network Satellite (RHNS) simplifies the administration of Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers. It was specifically designed to manage the recently released Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, although it can also be used to manage the older supported versions.

Satellite 5.4 centralises the configuration of multiple physical and virtual Red Hat Enterprise Linux Servers through three modules; Management, Provisioning and Monitoring. Further details of the functions of these three modules are available on the RHNS Module Details web page.

New features include support for SELinux in the configuration management and improved reporting for compliance auditing. Version 5.4 features support for third party repositories, so RHNS can be used to manage open source software from other vendors, as well as Red Hat software.
