Red Hat Logo Red Hat has released version 1.3 of Red Hat Enterprise MRG, its Messaging, Realtime and Grid Linux platform for time-critical applications. In its release announcement, the company describes these three areas as the "key technology base" for building private clouds using Red Hat Cloud Foundations.

MRG 1.3 now supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 4.8 and 5.5, includes extended management functionsa and should offer improved performance. The real-time kernel is based on Linux 2.6.33 and includes the performance counter subsystem, which can be accessed through the perf command and offers numerous performance monitoring and debugging options. These have been developed by the kernel developers over the last few months and have also been integrated into the official kernel.

Further information on changes in Red Hat MRG 1.3 can be found in the documentation and release notes for version 1.3. Customers with an Enterprise MRG subscription will automatically receive the 1.3 update via the Red Hat Network.
