Over ten months after version 1.1 was first made available, Red Hat has announced the release of Red Hat Enterprise MRG 1.2. The latest release of its MRG (Messaging, Realtime and Grid) Linux platform for time-critical applications features a number of changes, including support for version 5.4 of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

The Messaging component of MRG 1.2 includes improvements to its core messaging infrastructure and various performance improvements. In addition to its own performance enhancements, Realtime now includes a new rteval tool to help users detect hardware latencies in their systems and Grid adds support for the scheduling of KVM-based virtual machines in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4.

More details about the release, including a demonstration video, are available in Red Hat's MRG 1.2 press release. The company notes that customers with an Enterprise MRG subscription will automatically receive the 1.2 update via its Red Hat Network.
