Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.6 released
Even though Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 was introduced two months ago, RHEL 5 is still in its initial support period during which Red Hat will introduce new features and improve hardware support through new and updated drivers. The new features in RHEL 5.6 include official support for the Ext4 file system and support for version 9.7 of the Bind name server, which improves support for DNSsec, included with Bind version 9.3. Also new is support for PHP 5.3.2 and PHP 5.1.6.
The extensive upgrades and extensions include drivers for network and storage hardware, for HP printers and for the latest CPUs from Intel and AMD. New features include the System Security Services Daemon (SSSD) for central identity and authentication management.
