Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 & CentOS 3 end-of-life announced
Red Hat has published a reminder that version 3 of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) reaches its end-of-life (EOL) date on the 31st of October, 2010. The six-month advanced notification is issued in accordance with the the company's Errata Support Policy and means that, after the 31st of October, no further updates, including security updates and critical fixes, will be available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3. The company advises all users to upgrade to a later release. Under the standard 7 year life-cycle, RHEL 5, for example, will be supported until March of 2014. The next version, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, is currently in development and is available as a pre-release beta. The latest stable release is version 5.5 from the end of March.
