jRuby 1.1.4 : The jRuby developers have announced version 1.1.4 of jRuby, the Ruby implementation for Java. As well as 72 issues fixed in this release, there has been a refactoring of the Java integration layer in jRuby, leading to 2-20x speed-up in operations using the Java/Ruby interface. This release also sees the beginnings of Ruby 1.9 support with native complex/rational value support.

GWT 1.5 : The new version of Google's Web Toolkit, GWT 1.5, now supports Java 5. This allows GWT developers to use Java 5 features such as generics, for-each loops, autoboxing and enums. For example, Java generics support in GWT 1.5 allows simpler GWT RPC definitions. Other improvements include a smarter method inlining mechanism in the GWT compiler, reported to boost performance. There are also new sample applications, prettier widgets, accessibility enhancements and bi-directional text support.
