Re:Versions - OpenOffice 3.0 RC1 and Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex Alpha 2

OpenOffice 3.0 RC1 – OpenOffice 3.0 heads towards its proposed September 16th release, with the first release candidate of the refreshed office application suite. Mac OS X users are looking forward to this release as it has a native Aqua/Cocoa user interface, replacing the older version's X11 based user interface. Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex Alpha 5 – Ubuntu also continutes its progression to the next Ubuntu 8.10 release with the publication of alpha 5 of "Intrepid Ibex". The highlight of this release is the switch to Linux Kernel 2.6.27, a proposal reported in heise online's kernel log. The change on the kernel is in evaluation. Other updates include Network Manager 0.7, a "Last Successful Boot" recovery mode, Xorg 7.4 and Gnome 2.23.91. The final stable version of Ubuntu 8.10 is due on October 30th.
