DWR 3.0 Release Candidate - Version 3.0 of Direct Web Remoting toolkit (DWR) has been made available as a release candidate. DWR makes it simple to expose Java classes as a web interface and to update web clients from Java classes, without the clients requesting a page (Reverse Ajax), by generating the appropriate services and JavaScript. In DWR 3.0, a wide range of enhancements have been added. The RPC mechanism now supports varargs, method overloading and typed parameters, while marshalling gains the ability to handle binary file uploads and downloads. Reverse Ajax enhancements are joined by Tibco and Dojo integration, Tomcat and Glassfish asynchronous servlet support and improved Spring and Guice support.

Topcased 2.3.0 - The Topcased project has released version 2.3.0 of its UML editor. The graphical editor, which is compatible with the UML 2.1 specification, supports ten chart types (Package, Class, Object, Component, Deployment, Use Case, Sequence, Activity, State Machine and Composite Structure). Topcased also include a Java extension for reverse engineering diagrams. Topcased works within the Eclipse IDE and 2.3.0 now supports Eclipse 3.4.1. For more on Topcased see the heise online feature Topcased: System development using open source.
