RailsInstaller makes tracks to Mac OS X
Ruby and PHP Cloud services provider Engine Yard has announced a new version of its Rails installation package RailsInstaller. The toolkit provides Ruby developers with a quick way to create a suitable software stack by setting up all the necessary components for working with the Ruby framework automatically. RailsInstaller has previously only been available for Windows systems, but now, for the first time, the EngineYard developers have created a Mac OS X version.
RailsInstaller on Mac OS X includes the following components:
- Ruby 1.9.3-p125
- Rails 3.2.2
- Git 1.7.7.4
- Sqlite 3070500
- osx-gcc-installer 0.10.3
- JewelryBox 1.2.1
- RVM 1.10.3
- SM 0.10.3
The open source RailsInstaller project is also now available in two versions, with Ruby 1.8 and 1.9 editions for Windows, and with Ruby 1.9 for Mac OS X 10.6 and 10.7. The source code used to create the RailsInstaller is available on GitHub under an MIT-style licence.
