Qt for VxWorks and with XML Schema capability
The cross-platform Qt GUI framework now runs on Wind River's VxWorks real-time operating system, although it currently still requires a separate X11 server to be installed. The Qt developers point out that this version of Qt will probably never run without being customised for each respective version of VxWorks.
The older version for QNX has now been integrated with the Qt Window System (QWS), which means that this platform no longer requires an X11 server. Until now, QWS has only been available for Linux.
From the next version (4.6), Qt for desktop systems is to offer classes which use an XML Schema to validate XML documents. QXmlSchema
will read and interpret Schema files, while QXmlSchemaValidator
will subsequently validate the documents. Tobias Koenig, the developer of both classes, suggests that XmlSchema
should later be extended in such a way that it uses an XML Schema to generate C++ classes which represent the XML document.
Written in C++, the Qt framework is available for the Linux, Windows, Mac OS X and related operating systems, and offers the same functionality on all platforms. It forms the basis of the free KDE Linux desktop. When Nokia took over Trolltech, the original manufacturer, the library was placed under the Lesser Gnu Public License (LGPL), and its code repositories were opened to the public.
