Qt Software changes name again
Nokia has announced that Qt Software is now Qt Development Frameworks, and that the company will now reside at qt.nokia.com instead of qtsoftware.com. The reason given by Daniel Kihlberg, director of global sales and marketing at Nokia, is that Nokia wanted a stronger brand association with the framework. The chosen name, was selected "because at the end of the day, our goal is to provide developers with the best framework: Qt."
The company's name has changed a number of times in the past. Most recently, after the Nokia acquisition last year, it changed from Trolltech to Qt Software. The company's original name was Quasar Technologies, the source of the letters Q and t in the frameworks name, but changed to Trolltech in 1994. The H waits to see how long the new Qt Development Frameworks name stays over the door. Qt is the GPL/LGPL licensed toolkit upon which KDE is based.
