The Qt developers at Nokia have updated the release plans for the Qt user interface toolkit and Qt SDK. The Qt SDK, which aims to provide a single, easy to install, development environment for Nokia's user interface toolkit, provides not only the libraries for the framework, but simulators to test application appearance on mobile devices such as the Nokia N8.

One of Qt 4.7's enhancements was to be the addition of Qt Quick, a declarative way, using QML, of defining user interfaces. This will not now be supported in Qt Creator 2.0, having been postponed until version 2.1. Qt 4.7 itself is being put through a second beta release, with release candidates for Qt 4.7 and Qt Creator 2.1 expected to be available during the summer, followed some weeks later by final releases.

Rather than being released with Qt 4.7, SDK 1.0, the next version of the toolkit, will be released with the recently released Qt 4.6.3 and Qt Creator 2.0. The move was made to ensure Qt Creator 2.0, now available as a release candidate, could be included with the 1.0 SDK release, also available now as a release candidate. No dates have been given for final releases.
