Qt Software has made the release candidate for Qt 4.5 available to download. Qt Software, originally Trolltech, is now a Nokia subsidiary after Nokia acquired them in June of 2008. The cross-platform application framework for desktop and embedded development includes improvements for the runtime performance of Qt based applications. Qt uses the latest version of WebKit to improve rendering performance and now offers better support for the Mac platform, with added 64-bit support.

Qt can be found in Google Earth, Skype and other GUIs. Qt supports Linux, Windows, Mac OS, and - with stripped down functionality - Embedded Linux and Windows CE. The software is being released under both the GPL and a special Beta license. LGPL licensed Qt 4.5 packages will not be available until the final release of Qt 4.5 in March.
