Version 2.0 of Qimo Linux, a play-and-learn system designed for preschool and primary school children, has been released . The installable Live system is based on Xubuntu 10.04 and now includes a user administration interface that allows multiple user accounts to be set up.

One newly added program is Laby, which uses a simulated labyrinth to teach children the basics of programming. The system offers updated versions of the Gcompris and Childsplay educational and games collections as well as the Tuxmath and Tuxpaint programs. New wallpapers have also been added; they now include both the Qimo mascot, an Eskimo boy, and polar bear Illa, whose name is Inuit for friend.

Qimo 2.0 is available to download from the project page and via Bittorrent. Ubuntu 10.04 users can also install the qimo-session package from the package repositories. The session menu will then contain an item for starting a Qimo session at the time of the next login.
