Python for S60 (PyS60) has been in flux for some time, with various project forks, but with the official release of Python S60 v2.0, it appears that time is over. According to the announcement the new release comes a year after the last 1.9.x releases and includes the SDK for PyS60 2.0 with a Windows installer, complete with signed runtime and signing files for scripts. The signing files mean that it will now be possible to have Python applications "Symbian signed" and eligible for distribution through the Nokia Ovi store.

Archives of the SDK for Linux and Mac include the same content, less the installer. The updated PyS60 v2.0 now includes improved support for the four way directional pad and seals a number of memory leaks in the Python interpreter. Documentation, release notes and further information on the release are also available. The SDK can be downloaded from the Maemo.org site. PyS60 2.0 is released under the Apache 2 and Python licenses.
