Python 2.7 beta 2 released

The second beta of Python 2.7 has been released by the Python developers. The developers have been using Clang 2.7's static analyser to detect problems or candidates for clean-up in the code. Changes in this beta include turning off accidentally enabled optimisation in the build process in beta 1, easier framework installation on Mac OS X, enhancements to OpenSSL 1.0.0 compatibility and many other bug fixes, which are detailed in the change log.

Python 2.7 is due to arrive in June and is planned to be the the last major edition of the Python 2.x series before it goes into "bug fix mode". Python 2.7 is focussed on back porting a number of features which were included in Python 3.1, such as a C based I/O library for higher performance, the addition of an ordered dictionary type and the new syntax for nested with statements. Python 2.7 beta 2 is available to download from the Python 2.7 pages as source code or binary installers for 32 or 64 bit Windows and Mac OS X (PPC, i386 and x86-64). The developers do not recommend the use of Python 2.7 beta 2 in production use.
