Platform-independent mobile development with Qt Mobility

Qt Software, formerly Trolltech and now part of Nokia, has announced a new project aimed at creating interfaces for mobile devices. Qt Mobility, as the name implies, is the latest project intended for creating a new suite of cross-platform Qt APIs specifically for mobile application development. The Qt developers want to ensure that they can target multiple platforms, such as Nokia's S40, S60 and Maemo operating systems, via a single application that will run across all supported Qt platforms. Currently, each platform, Nokia and non-Nokia alike, would need its own specific build.

All of the provided information and code for the Qt project is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL). The first API to appear in the Qt public repository is the Qt Service Framework. The Bearer Management API should be posted "in the coming weeks" with more to follow. Qt Mobility uses the current release, version 4.5, of the Qt GUI library.
