Plasma Active 2 KDE tablet interface released
The KDE developers have released version 2 of Plasma Active, an open source user interface for smartphones and tablet devices. Their main focus was on improving performance and supporting more devices. While Plasma Active One only worked on the ExoPC and similar devices such as the WeTab, the developers say that Plasma Active 2 can also be used on the BeagleBoard, on the Archos G9 tablet, and on devices with NVIDIA Tegra 2 chips.
In addition to improving hardware support and performance, the developers have also enhanced the user interface. For example, the UI now offers context-sensitive recommendations.

To provide this functionality, Plasma Active evaluates a user's UI actions and then provides a selection of the most appropriate functions based on these evaluations.
Further information about the new version, including a short introduction video, can be found in the official release announcement and in the release notes. Plasma Active Two is available to download as both installable and live images. The developers note that, due to changes in the configuration files, upgrading from Plasma Active One to version 2.0 is not supported. The libraries used by Plasma Active are licensed under the LGPL.
