Zoom Pinta 0.5 adds support for multiple images, procedural brushes and a clone stamp.
Novell open source programmer Jonathan Pobst has announced the release of version 0.5 of his simple Pinta painting application for Gtk modelled after Paint.NET. According to the developer, the latest Pinta release includes a number of updates and several new "big features".

Version 0.5 of the drawing / image editing program features a new Clone Stamp tool for removing unwanted objects and imperfections from photos and adds support for having multiple images open at a time, allowing users to easily switch between several images for editing. New procedural paint brushes, such as splatter, squares, circles and grid, have also been added. Other changes include support for the TGA file format, a choice of JPEG compression level, the addition of rulers and more than 20 fixes for bugs found in the previous versions.

Further information about the release, including a full list of changes and bug fixes, can be found in the release notes. Pinta 0.5 is available to download for Mac OS X, openSUSE and Ubuntu and requires Mono. Windows is also supported and requires Gtk# for Windows and Mono for Windows. Pinta is released under the MIT X11 license.
