Phoronix: hardware database and updated benchmarking suite
Known for its Linux hardware topics, the Phoronix web site has announced the availability of its "Phoronix Test Suite 3.0" collection of benchmarking tools. At the same time, the web site has launched the OpenBenchmarking.org site, which allows those who use the latest benchmarking suite to share their results and compare their systems with those of others.
In a separate news release, Phoronix has compared the site with database solutions that offer information about the Linux compatibility of hardware – such as those for Ubuntu. However, much of the current database information appears to have been collected automatically or isn't particularly relevant; a trial search for the networking and audio hardware of the Core i5 system used to write these lines returned no results.
