Pentaho Logo Open Source Business Intelligence company Pentaho has announced that it has partnered with open source database management specialist the Ingres Corporation. Under the new partnership, the two companies will certify their respective products with each other, specificially the Pentaho BI Suite and Ingres VectorWise Database.

Ingres Logo The companies say that Ingres VectorWise and Pentaho can perform analytic queries much faster than traditional relational database or in-memory solutions and they hope the co-certification will mean that more industry organisations, such as financial services and digital media companies, will "marry the competitive advantage of enterprise-strength business intelligence with the speed and performance of a high-speed analytical database". Discussing the announcement, Pentaho Founder and CEO Richard Daley said, "By combining the power of the Ingres VectorWise lightning fast analytic database with our full BI suite, customers can shrink their time to value even as their data sets grow".

Further information about the new partnership can be found in an on-demand joint webcast titled "Blazing Fast Business Intelligence with Ingres VectorWise and Pentaho" (registration required). Earlier this month, Ingres launched version 10 of Ingress Database, it's flagship open source database product, with new features aimed at making migrating from other databases even easier than before.
