Parted Magic update fixes bugs, upgrades packages
A new version, simply labelled "2012_3_24", of the Parted Magic open source, multi-platform partitioning tool has been released. According to lead developer Patrick Verner, the update fixes a number of issues related to interaction between the BusyBox tool collection and Clonezilla, and upgrades a number of the included applications.
Based on the 3.2.13 Linux kernel, Parted Magic 2012_3_24 includes updated X.org drivers, and adds the md5deep utilities and Bar, a command-line progress bar tool. Package upgrades include version 1.42.1 of the e2fsprogs filesystem utilities, Firefox 11, BusyBox 1.19.4, and version 0.24.4 of the Pixman pixel-manipulation library for X and cairo. The Nwipe tool for securely erasing disks has also been updated to 0.08, the current stable release.
Further information about the update, including a full list of changes and fixes, can be found in the announcement post on the project's News page and in the change log. Parted Magic 2012_3_24 is available from the project's downloads page. Hosted on SourceForge, source code for Parted Magic is licensed under the GPLv2.
