Parted Magic Logo Parted Magic developer Patrick Verner has released version 4.11 of his open source, multi-platform partitioning tool. Parted Magic can be used to create, move, delete and resize drive partitions and will run on a machine with as little as 64MB of RAM. File systems supported include NTFS, FAT, ReiserFS, Reiser4 and HFS+. LVM and RAID are also supported.

The latest update is based on the 2.6.32.15 Linux kernel and features several new programs and updated packages. Additions include the Clonezilla open source clone system (OCS), Perl 5.10.1 and version 0.2.1 of vmfs-tools. Package updates include, for example, version 6.0.424.0 of the Chromium web browser, FSArchiver 0.6.10, the 2010.5.22 release of the NTFS-3G read/write NTFS driver and Parted 2.3. The developers note that a lot of work went into version 4.11 and say that the next release "will most likely include a newer Xorg and Linux Kernel"

More details about the release can be found in the release announcement and change log. Version 4.11 of Parted Magic is available to download as as an ISO image or a USB file to run as either a LiveCD or LiveUSB. Parted Magic is released under version 2 of the GNU General Public License (GPLv2) and documentation is provided.
