Parted Magic 11.11.11 brings Linux 3.1
Parted Magic lead developer Patrick J. Verner has announced the release of version 11.11.11 of his open source, multi-platform partitioning tool. Based on the Linux 3.1 kernel, the new release introduces a new versioning system (the previous version was 6.7) and upgrades a number of the included applications.
Parted Magic 11.11.11 includes version 0.10.0 of Gnome PARTition EDitor (GParted) and updates the Firefox web browser to Firefox 8 which was released earlier this week. Other package updates include GPT fdisk 0.8.1 and version 0.97.3 of the open source ClamAV anti-virus application. Verner also notes that a lot of work has gone into fixing several "smallish annoying issues and minor scripting errors", and that the administration utilities for the Reiser4 file system (reiser4progs) have been removed as they are not compatible with with the 3.x Linux kernels.
A full list of updates and changes can be found in the change log. Parted Magic 11.11.11 is available to download as an ISO image file from the project's site. Hosted on SourceForge, Parted Magic source code is licensed under the GPLv2.
