Parsix Logo The Parsix development team have released version 3.5 of their Parsix GNU/Linux distribution, code named 'Frankie'. The GNOME centric, desktop oriented distribution is based on Debian's testing branch and is available in a number of languages, including English, German, French, Italian and Persian (Farsi).

According to lead developer Alan Baghumian, the latest stable release uses the 2.6.32.14 Linux kernel and features X.Org 7.5 and version 2.28.2 of the GNOME desktop environment. Changes over the previous release include an improved system installer, an updated "spicy look and feel", default Ext4 file system support and a new update-manager package. Package updates include version 2.6.2 of the Pidgin IM client, OpenOffice.org 3.2.0, VirtualBox 3.1.6 and Firefox 3.5.9 (in the form of the unbranded Iceweasel). Baghumian also notes that this is the first release to include their new experimental USB installer, allowing users to install and run Parsix from a USB flash drive.

More details about the release can be found in the release announcement and release notes. Parsix GNU/Linux 3.5r0 is available to download for 32 and 64-bit systems from SourceForge. An Installation and User Guide are provided.
