Pardus Linux 2011.2 released

Pardus Logo The Pardus development team has published version 2011.2 of its Linux distribution. The latest release brings updates to NetworkManager (0.8.5.91), addressing issues with adding VPN connections, as well as a new version of ModemManager (0.5).

Code-named "Cervus elaphus", Pardus Linux 2011.2 also includes the recent 3.4.3 release of LibreOffice and updates to MPlayer that address a crashing bug. The Common Unix Printing System (CUPS) has been upgraded to 1.4.8 – 1.5 was released in July.

Pardus is a Turkish distribution sponsored by the Center Of Research For Advanced Technologies Of Informatics And Information Security (UEKAE) and includes several unique features: PiSi (Packages Installed Successfully, as Intended), an efficient and small package management system for installing and managing software, and COMAR, their own COnfiguration MAnageR that includes the Mudar init system for Pardus.

Further information about the release can be found in the mailing list announcement. At the time of writing, the release notes and an announcement news post have yet to be published and the official download page still shows the previous 2011.1 version. Pardus Linux 2011.2 is available to download for 32- and 64-bit systems from the project's FTP server. Pardus is released under the GPLv2.
