OpenShift logo Red Hat's OpenShift Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) has been extended to support the PHP scripting language. This was made possible through a partnership with Zend Technologies, a software and services provider that is heavily involved in developing PHP. Through the collaboration, Zend has now made a special version of its Zend Server product available for integration into OpenShift.

Zend Server for Red Hat OpenShift is designed to provide developers who use OpenShift with an application server for executing and managing PHP applications. The server also offers extra debugging options and monitoring capabilities, as well as support for running PHP tasks in parallel to improve overall performance. In return, OpenShift has now been integrated into the Zend Studio IDE, allowing distributed developer teams to collaborate on application development.

A developer preview of OpenShift with a limited set of features is available free of charge. A commercial version is also available that offers increased capacity, functionality and support.
